Steve was born in West Virginia, but in order to escape the coal mines and pursue a career in the textile industry, his father moved the family to Mebane, NC when he was a toddler. Throughout his youth Steve loved and excelled in all sports, from little league thru his high school where he quarterbacked the football team. He graduated from North Carolina State University in 1982 with a BA in Business Management.

Upon graduating college, Steve was driven to work in the family clothing business which at that time was Prospect Hill Manufacturing. Not only did the company manufacture an upper end line of blazers, skirts and blouses for women, they operated 4 stores within North Carolina and Virginia. In 1985, this family-owned business delved into school uniforms and soon operated as Royal Park Uniforms. Over the next 20 years, Royal Park grew to be the largest supplier of school plaid uniforms in the country. A steward of the company, Steve served as Senior VP of Sales becoming the industry expert in plaid apparel, establishing relationships across the nation. After the business closed in 2011, Steve had the pleasure of going to work with Rifle/Kaynee as a Salesman covering a variety of states and helping customers build successful uniform businesses. With the merger of RK and School Apparel in 2017, Steve is now honored to be on board working with A+ as he enters his 34th year in the school uniform industry.

Steve is happily married to an elementary school principal and together they raised two successful adult children and now experience the joys of their first granddaughter. Steve loves to pull for his NC Wolfpack and still attends most home football games, tailgating for hours pregame with family and friends. Steve also enjoys hiking and just sitting on the dock at his lake house. Most of all, though, Steve simply loves spending time with his wife, kids and granddaughter.
