Clinton Still Pushing For School Discipline

Crime and violence are going down, attendance and learning going up.

It was difficult to tell just how much school uniforms were contributing to the decrease in drugs and crime on our country's school grounds, because school uniform requirements haven't been around long enough to have hard statistical data. Today, it is quite evident that uniform policies have played a significant role in contributing to a better and safer place to attend school.

"In most schools, it's not the sensational acts of violence but small acts of aggression-threats, scuffles, constant back talk that take a terrible toll on the atmosphere of learning, on the morale of teachers, on the attitudes of other students," Clinton said in an October White House conference. The president repeated his calls for wider use of school uniforms to restore discipline to schools and order to our children's lives.

Data is not only showing a reduction in drug use and campus crime, but statistics from Long Beach School Districts show a big boost in attendance too. The greatest obstruction and threat to a good education is the lack of discipline. Regular attendance is the first step in achieving a good education. Many schools and teachers praise Clinton's opinion on school uniform policies. However, realistically it takes much more than just a school uniform to improve our schools, but it sure is a terrific start.
